Japan · NPO法人ブラストビート

SINCE 2009 • 17 YEARS INDEPENDENT

In July 2009, Takamasa Matsuura watched Robert Stephenson’s work on NHK’s “Changemaker” and reached out to bring Blastbeat to Japan. A volunteer secretariat was established the following month. Since then the Japan chapter has run independently, with deep work in disaster-recovery (Tōhoku, Fukushima, Miyagi, Ishinomaki) and international collaborations including El Sistema (Venezuela), the Japan Foundation (Korea bilateral) and NPO Peace Boat.

The Japan chapter built this almost entirely independently of the global team. We re-discovered the depth of their work in 2025 and have nothing but respect for what they’ve sustained. The V2 platform is an open door, not a takeover — if and when they want it.
